"Dad, what do you say when people ask you where you come from? This was the first question the choreographer asked her father when she decided to ask him about his history. Myriam Soulanges delves into the memory of her father's Guadeloupean origins, as if to better tell her own story. Like one of those "cover girl singers" who cover well-known songs, she appropriates the archives to offer her own interpretation. With her powerful, audacious voice, she delivers a fascinating crossroads dialogue. Through this double portrait, she explores the complexity of identity, the violence of racial oppression and the depth of heritage. From father to daughter, she revives a political and poetic memory.
