Exposition Botanique - Dessins et aquarelles / Château-Thierry

From September 21 to November 16, 2024, discover the "Botanique" exhibition at the Maison de l?Amitié France-Amérique, located at 2, place des États-Unis in Château-Thierry.

You can admire a series of drawings and watercolors by Maria Xavier-Alves, a self-taught artist from Portugal who has lived in the Marne Valley since childhood.

Maria Xavier-Alves, a care assistant by trade, began her artistic practice during the Covid period, finding in drawing a moment of liberation. This first solo show presents a series of botanical works, created with great finesse and precision, inspired by the flora of the southern Aisne region.

The artist spent three years observing the plants and flowers around her, first drawing them on postcard-sized cards, then giving them greater scope on different papers. His works, whether depicting wild plants or those cultivated in his own garden, bear witness to his search for a style and his exploration of drawing techniques.

This exhibition is a true inspiration, underlining the importance of reinventing oneself and discovering new passions.
