Balade botanique : sur les pas de LB Riomet et des Claudel

As part of the "Hauts-de-France Nature" regional event and the Rendez vous aux Jardins, and in partnership with the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels des Hauts de France, a botanical walk is organized.

Botanical walk: in the footsteps of LB Riomet and the Claudels

Louis-Bienaimé RIOMET was a contemporary of Camille and Paul Claudel. Although he was a schoolteacher in Villeneuve-sur-Fère (1902-1903) and Armentières-sur-Ourcq (1914), he is best remembered for his work as a local botanist during this period. He inventoried the flora of the Villeneuve commune and surrounding area, in particular the Hottée-du-Diable, for which he drew up an exceptional floristic portrait through his surveys. This commemorative outing will follow in his footsteps on a 3 km circuit, to revisit some of the plants that were his companions along the way. Background information on the evolution of natural environments over the last century will be provided, and illustrations of his work will be on display in the Maison Claudel garden.
