Safran de l'Ourcq is grown in a village where the river of the same name flows. In this terroir, it benefits from brown, sandy-loam soils with good drainage, from which it draws everything it needs.
Every autumn, Crocus Sativus emerge from the soil to give us the very best: magnificent flowers with tight, upright purplish petals and carmine-red pistils known as "RED GOLD". Flowers with an exceptional fragrance, intoxicating the bees that come to gather them.

This noble plant is grown by hand. Weeding is carried out manually and mechanically, but no products are ever used. Safran de l'Ourcq is certified organic.

A passionate couple: Virginie holds a BP REA (Brevet Professionnel Responsable d'Exploitation Agricole) diploma, for which she wrote her dissertation on saffron cultivation; Nicolas holds a BTS in horticulture, is a jury member at the International Agricultural Competition for saffron, and is a trainer, teacher and high school director at the French Ministry of Agriculture.
The company is a member of "PROFESSION SAFRAN" Union Française des Professionnels du Safran.
