La Bataille du Bois de Belleau

Belleau is certainly one of the best known French communes across the Atlantic since the decisive battle fought by the Americans against the German army in June 1918. The wood and the adjoining American cemetery have become the symbol of the Marine Corps' commitment to the Great War. Today, Belleau Wood offers an environment that tells its many visitors, through its present appearance, an important part of the history of the conflict.
