Ecoute-Bergère is a workshop specializing in interior decoration, upholstery restoration, curtain and cushion making, and the sale of high-end and made-to-measure upholstery fabrics. Since 2008, Juliette Klein, a qualified upholsterer and seat designer, has been creating and restoring seat upholstery using an ancient technique based exclusively on organic and sourced plant materials.
A seat isn't just wood and fabric: everything that counts is invisible. Hand-stitched vegetable upholstery" involves transforming raw materials (plant fibers) into soft, comfortable seats, by shaping, stitching and sewing the various soft materials to the seat's wood, using a mastery of gesture and technique.
Although this artisanal method has fallen into oblivion, since 1825, with the advent of springs, it has been the most successful way of making a seat in terms of aesthetics, economy and sustainability for the planet.
"My approach is ethical and eco-responsible: I create made-to-measure seats, I restore family armchairs for a long time, I make curtains, cushions and household linen on request. I work with fabrics from publishers and choose healthy, eco-friendly materials. I also offer decorating advice.
The workshop is open by appointment.
